PRELIMINARY RECOGNITION OF THE AUSTRALASIAN BOSDOG!
We first applied in 2013 to the ANKC for their recognition of the Australasian Bosdog as a new breed developed within Australia, and now we have received a letter dated 13/3/19 from the President & Chairman of the ANKC Board stating that a Special Board Meeting held in February 2019 has resolved that in principle the ANKC agrees to the application for recognition of the Australasian Bosdog on a register which the ANKC will work on defining terms and conditions.
Wow – nearly 30,000 people came through the doors of the Horden Pavillion this August!
It felt like 29,500 came to the Australasian Bosdog stand.
Nearly everyone got a photo with the lovely Chase, our star, who was happy to oblige with a high five for the kids or a hand shake for the adults. In fact, we were so busy that none of us even had time or thought to take pictures of our stand!
We were inundated with enquiries, had new members join up, and a lot of people in favour of our recognition and looking forward to it!
The breed was extremely popular with visitors who were found patiently waiting for Chase, our four year old boy, to come back from a toilet visit. We affectionately named our hand stamps “Chase stamps” and they were very popular with the kids (and even some adults). Australasian Bosdog drawings for colouring in were so popular we had to restock on the Saturday evening. The remaining few handbooks were gone in a flash.
There were four of us there this year, and thank heavens for that. Two of our team even flew in from other states to participate. Being passionate about our Breed it was easy to talk to the many people we did, our hoarse throats a true testament. The public were genuinely interested in our Breed and our journey thus far and it was nothing for all four of us to be educating people whilst others waited in line for their chance to chat & ask questions too.
Two Rescue Groups came to our stand to congratulate the ABS on its philosophy & breeding ethos. The lovely girls from Minnie’s Bulldog Rescue caught up with us both days to encourage us on our continued journey in getting our dogs recognised with the ANKC.
Although exhausted on the Monday, we were all sure it was a very positive experience once again and would like to thank everyone who came to listen, chat or just have their photo taken.
